We are pleased to announce the upcoming release of our latest innovation – the Mira J9 milling machine. This advanced model represents a significant advancement in our line of heavy-duty 5-axis CNC machines, designed to meet the demands of professionals working with a wide range of materials, including hard metals and plastics.
Building on the success of its predecessor, the Mira J9 features several key upgrades, including an automatic tool changer for faster, more efficient operations. This, combined with enhanced carriages, improves overall machining accuracy and performance.
Additional highlights of the new machine include a high-performance spindle and a hermetically sealed work area, which ensure reliability and durability for complex, demanding projects. Despite its powerful capabilities, the Mira J9’s compact design makes it an ideal solution for facilities with limited space.
We will be sharing more detailed specifications, photos, and videos in the coming weeks as we prepare for the official launch. The Mira J9 milling machine is poised to set a new standard in CNC technology, offering unmatched precision, efficiency, and versatility for professionals across industries.

The machine features a newly engineered rotary head with a dual-bearing support structure, delivering exceptional rigidity and eliminating vibration—even under extreme cutting loads. This robust design ensures stable and precise machining, even during the most demanding operations. To maintain this performance, the rotary axis (A-axis) is precisely aligned
with the machine’s linear axes, guaranteeing ideal kinematic accuracy. The rotary head is equipped with a high-performance harmonic reducer and a premium-quality motor sourced from leading Japanese manufacturers. This combination provides exceptional torque, smooth rotation, and unmatched precision—essential for high-performance and high-accuracy applications.
Mira J9 offers flexible workpiece holding options, supporting both traditional mounting methods used on the NS CNC Mira Mills and an advanced Quick-Release System (QRS).
The QRS features a compact mini pallet design that enables fast and easy installation or removal of the workpiece setup. Despite its simplicity, the system ensures exceptional precision, with pallet positioning accuracy within 1 micron.
Workpieces can be secured using a standard vice or mounted directly to the pallet via screws. For specialized applications, our company also provides custom holder manufacturing tailored to the QRS, ensuring optimal performance and adaptability across various machining needs.
The machine is equipped with a newly designed Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) featuring 15 tool pots for efficient and seamless operation. Central to this system is the NSK Nakanishi spindle, which includes a pneumatic tool clamping mechanism for quick and reliable tool changes.
Tool clamping and unclamping can be carried out in several convenient ways:
• Automatically via the control program using the standard M6 command
• Manually from the machine interface by pressing the Clamp button
• Directly within the work area using the upper black button for quick access
Each time a tool change occurs, the machine automatically measures the tool height using a Tool Height Sensor (THS). This sensor features an LED indicator that lights up upon contact, confirming accurate detection and positioning.
To ensure durability and cleanliness, the ATC is protected by a chip-resistant cover that automatically lifts during tool changes, keeping the mechanism clear and operating smoothly.
As with all NS CNC machines, the Mira J9 is equipped with a high-performance spindle from the globally renowned manufacturer NSK Nakanishi. This ensures the highest level of precision, reliability, and durability.
While the NS CNC Elara allows for various spindle configurations, the Mira J9 is designed exclusively with the NSK Nakanishi NR 3036 AQC spindle—one of the most trusted and widely used models featuring automatic tool change capability.
Similar to larger industrial CNC machines, tools are mounted in conical holders and inserted into the spindle, where they are securely clamped using an air-powered system. This professional-grade setup guarantees stable, high-precision machining with quick and reliable tool changes.
The machine has a new dual coolant system, offering users complete control over cooling and chip removal during machining operations. This flexible setup allows the operator to choose between two modes depending on the application:
1. Mist Mode
In Mist mode, coolant is mixed with air and delivered through a nozzle into the milling area. Both air pressure and coolant flow can be finely adjusted by the user. This method is ideal for efficiently clearing chips from the cutting zone, helping to prevent tool damage and maintain cutting accuracy.
2. Coolant Mode
The traditional Coolant mode delivers coolant under low pressure directly to the tool via a nozzle. Flow is controlled by an electromagnetic valve that creates a pulsing effect. These pulses can be fully customized through the machine’s control interface, allowing users to set the duration and frequency—from minimal dosing to a continuous flow.
This dual system ensures optimal cooling and chip management across a wide range of materials and cutting conditions, enhancing both tool life and machining quality.
