About MIRA 8

Mira 8 is our heavy-duty successor to the Mira 6. We’ve added several new features that allow it to precisely mill medium and hard-density materials that its older sister previously couldn’t handle. You can also use the Mira 8 for micro-milling soft metals, various plastics, graphite, model wax, hardwood, and soft gemstones with ease.

This machine is an excellent fit for any team working in microfluidics, jewellery, watchmaking, scientific research, mould production, or any other work that requires micro-milling of the highest precision. Here are just a few of the Mira-8’s robust features:


Ball Screws and Servo Motors

Our design utilizes ball screws and nuts to provide high-precision carriage movement over years of constant use. Combined with the Mira 8’s servomotors, they make it possible to move the carriages with tremendous speed and force.

Rotary Head B

The Rotary Head B has a centered chuck with ER-25 collets. The standard ER collet is the most widely used clamping system in the world. ER collets have a wide clamping range and high accuracy. This feature allows you to maintain a perfectly centered workpiece on round shafts ranging from 2.0 to 15.8mm in diameter. 

Additionally, the Rotary Head B has an optical home position sensor, which you can use to set the desired B-angle on your workpiece and return back to it at any time. The Mira – 8 has eight of these sensors installed; two for each linear axis and one for the rotary heads.

Workpiece Holders

The use of a collet gives you extensive possibilities for mounting various holders. You can clamp the cylindrical workpiece directly into the collet or utilize different adapters, chucks, and holders. Our team can also help you produce specialized chucks to suit your unique micro-milling needs.

Coolant System

We’ve equipped this machine with a self-filtering Coolant system, which uses a pulsating supply that’s completely controllable from its touch screen. The coolant itself is a concentrated water-soluble oil diluted in plain water. It efficiently cools the milling area and improves the surface quality while preventing the spread of dust in your room.

Coolant Proof

We’ve designed the Mira 8 and its rotary heads to provide reliable protection against coolant, moisture, chips, dust, and dirt throughout rigorous use. This is achieved by using a mechanical shaft seal. 

Nakanishi Ultra-Precise High-Speed Spindle

We’ve equipped Mira 8 with a high-speed ceramic bearing Nakanishi spindle NR-2351. The spindle is capable of rotating at speeds of up to 50,000 RPM, with a milling bit runout of no more than 1 micron. This spindle offers a multi-year lifespan with little to no maintenance or repair required.

Nakanishi spindles are a world leader in precision machine tools and are the only choice for serious machinists. The spindle has motor speed feedback, digital display controlling, and monitoring. The spindle housing is made from precision ground, hardened, stainless steel.

NS Motion Control System

Control of the machine is carried out by the NS Motion program within the built-in computer. This program is designed specifically for the MIRA Mill machine family and is both reliable and easy to use. When you turn on the machine, it is automatically loaded, and no additional settings are required.

The machine not only moves the carriages and rotary tables but also controls the spindle, the coolant machine and various sensors. Its optional wireless communication settings allow the user to connect to the internet. This may be necessary for remote technical support.
